The problem
Picking teams for a weekly football group was chaotic, unfair, and always caused arguments. There was no record of results, no player stats, and no way to track who was actually good.
The approach
Built a scoring model (Goals×4 + Assists×3 + Saves×3 + Interceptions×1.5 + Win bonus×3) and a team generation algorithm that balances composite player ratings with role inference and historical pair chemistry, so teammates who work well together stay together. Wrapped in a clean web app with shareable match reports.
The outcome
Shipped and in active weekly use. Arguments about teams dropped to zero. Players now care about their stats.
